Makalu Design has been turning sophisticated designs into high-quality carpets for 35 years. Every year, the company's own design studio adds new ideas to its collections. In addition, all designs can be individually adapted to customer wishes and needs.
The Adorn collection by Obeetee has a subtle modernity, creating interest through the high/low hand-knotted design details using handspun woollen yarn.
Theko Deluxe is Theo Keller's luxury collection. It comprises custom-order carpets hand-knotted in Nepal from Tibetan wool and silk. Custom sizes and shapes can be ordered, individual designs are possible as well.
Since its foundation 75 years ago, Zollanvari has repeatedly initiated important developments. The Swiss importer with Iranian roots brought the nomadic carpet to the West and has constantly developed it further.
Salsa is a very versatile Latin American dance. The hand-woven Salsa collection by Paulig is many-faceted as well, with its broad range of colours and textures. Made of pure new wool, it is dedicated to those who love a modern and natural lifestyle.
In the Makalu Domus collection, Makalu presents a soft play of colours with delicate silken accents, including a design with feathers blending into each other. In another design, the graphic Art-Deco-style border with its delicate silk sheen effectively builds tension with the lively colourfulness of the background. The special dyeing technique using vegetable dyes (abbreviated VEG) creates a beautiful abrash that can be recreated at any time, based on the 325 colours of the Makalu Design colour system. Carpets in this collection have a knotting density of 80 knots per square inch (approx. 124,000 knots per m2).
You can't get more natural than this: the Mamda carpet by Reinkemeier-Rietberg is hand-woven from pure, untreated jute fibre and thus displays the typical silky golden sheen of the fully biodegradable fibres. The plants from which they are obtained belong to the mallow family and thrive in an ever-humid, tropical climate. "Sustainability is not a trend, but the only way to shape the future," says Marketing Manager Jürgen Hemsel.
With its kinetic pattern, Dandelion's D-Rug has been inspired by ritual tribal garments from the past. Lithuanian designer Brigita Krasauskaite created the design for the Dandelion rug company based in Manhattan, New York. The rug is handknotted in Afghanistan from Ghazni wool. Custom sizes are also available.
