Roller closes further stores

German furniture discounter Roller is noticeably scaling back its store network in Germany. According to several trade publications, the company has closed or announced the closure of ten locations since autumn 2025: Husum, Villingen-Schwenningen, Crailsheim, Reutlingen, Gera, Oldenburg in Holstein, Offenbach, Rendsburg, Kerpen and Düsseldorf-Flingern, the latter in October and November 2026. Roller currently operates around 120 stores in Germany.

According to the reports, the company cites persistently challenging conditions in the furniture retail market and subdued consumer sentiment, which is hitting the discount segment particularly hard, as the reasons behind the move; it wants to concentrate on a stronger core network. Roller stressed that these are individual decisions rather than a general retreat, with economically stable locations remaining the focus. Affected staff are to be offered positions at nearby locations, while existing customer contracts are to be honoured as agreed. Roller is 50% owned by the Tessner Group, with the remaining 50% held since 2021 by Austria's XXXLutz Group.
