Kibek Kassel: 35 Years on Knorrstraße

The Kibek store in Kassel, in the German state of Hesse, is celebrating its 35th anniversary at its site on Knorrstraße this year. The branch moved there in February 1991 from Treppenstraße in the city centre, and Kibek has now been present in Kassel for almost 60 years in total. The 2,000-square-metre showroom offers rugs ranging from oriental to outdoor ranges, along with home accessories. The store underwent a complete refurbishment in 2021, with a high six-figure sum invested. Five staff run the branch, which Kassel's city treasurer and economic affairs officer, Matthias Nölke, praised as a fixture of local retail. Founded in Elmshorn in 1947, the family-owned business is now run by its third generation and operates 16 stores across Germany.
