The German DIY market leader Obi plans to open 15 new locations across Germany in the first half of 2026. All stores will be operated by franchise partners, with the majority being rebranded from existing sites during ongoing operations. Only the 9,000-square-metre store in Mühlacker, which opened on 2 January, is a completely new build. According to the company, this expansion adds more than 130,000 square metres of retail space in total. Obi states that this represents the strongest growth in retail space in the company's history.
