Ikea continues its international growth strategy and officially opened its first location in New Zealand on 4 December. The 34,000-square-metre store in Auckland is complemented by a nationwide online offering and 29 collection points to ensure seamless omnichannel coverage. For the operational launch, Ingka Group recruited over 500 new employees; the site is fully powered by renewable energy. This market entry follows a strong financial year with 66 new openings worldwide and visitor growth for the fifth consecutive year. The Swedish group has already set its sights on Panama and Costa Rica as its next target markets.
