Messe Frankfurt: Heimtextil 2022 cancelled

Information
Due to the worsening pandemic situation in Germany and the correspoding restrictions, Messe Frankfurt has cancelled the Heimtextil trade fair planned for 11 to 14 January 2022. According to a press release, the organisers will be discussing with the industry if and how a new event can be organised in summer 2022 parallel to the Techtextil/Texprocess trade fair duo. Events planned for later, such as Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld, Paperworld and Frankfurt Fashion Week, will take place as things stand.

According to Messe Frankfurt, the general conditions for a major fair with exhibitors and visitors from more than 135 countries have deteriorated to such an extent that it is impossible to host the event. The main reasons are the classification of Germany as a high-risk area and the associated travel warnings and international and intercontinental travel restrictions in India, Japan, the United States and Great Britain, the quarantine obligation and 2G requirements, with the WHO vaccine list not fully recognised in Germany.

The further increase in the number of infections and the accompanying appeals to reduce contacts to a minimum were also significant. The majority of exhibiting and visiting companies had reacted to the development by banning their employees from travelling and visiting the trade fair in order to protect their health.
