Supersalone (Milan): walls instead of stands

Information
After a one-year break, Milan's Salone del Mobile is back with a special event, the Supersalone. In early September, 425 mainly Italian exhibitors were showing their creative ideas in four pavilions on almost 70,000 sqm; 70 international suppliers were also exhibiting at the show.

At this somewhat different trade fair, the new products were not presented on classic exhibition stands, but on flexible wall surfaces that stretched across the entire grounds. Exhibitors could book the wall space they needed and design it creatively – so that visitors could move freely along the walls. The idea came from Stefano Boeri, the curator of the event. In addition, there were several meeting points for exhibitors and visitors. For the first time, end consumers were also allowed to visit the Salone in Rho near Milan. Among the carpet suppliers at Supersalone were Amini, Best Wool, CC-Tapis, Jan Kath, Kymo, Nanimarquina and Warli.

According to Ann Zuber of Kymo, the new conditions for product presentations have spurred the creativity of many exhibitors. "The gap between the financially strong big players and smaller, but substantive design companies was not as great as usual. We met on an equal footing – in all areas."

The next Salone del Mobile will take place from 5 to 10 April 2022.
