Geometric elements come together to form modern designs: The Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) was a pioneer of abstraction and implemented her dynamic formal language in textiles, furniture, architecture, beadwork, stage costumes and a puppet theatre, for example. Taeuber-Arp also designed numerous carpets, especially flatweaves.
