Makalu Design / Paulig Carpets: Delicate play of colours with silken accents

Information
In the Makalu Domus collection, Makalu presents a soft play of colours with delicate silken accents, including a design with feathers blending into each other. In another design, the graphic Art-Deco-style border with its delicate silk sheen effectively builds tension with the lively colourfulness of the background. The special dyeing technique using vegetable dyes (abbreviated VEG) creates a beautiful abrash that can be recreated at any time, based on the 325 colours of the Makalu Design colour system. Carpets in this collection have a knotting density of 80 knots per square inch (approx. 124,000 knots per m2).

The snake design from the Makalu Century series is expressive and intricate, yet pleasantly restrained in its pastel colours; the knot density in this collection is 100 knots per square inch.

In the supplier's finest quality, Makalu Millennium (approx. 150 knots per square inch), the elaborate depiction of a woven strukcture in subtle taupe shades shows what is possible here.

All rug collections mentioned in this article are made from hand-carded, hand-spun wool and natural silk and hand-knotted in Nepal; it is also possible to order high-quality hand-tufted versions. With the help of a planning app, individual colour combinations can be visualised in customers' rooms.
